TONFA: Originally the handle of a rice mill, the tonfa is a weapon that developed in OKINAWA. It consists of a club-like piece of wood with a handle jutting out about three-quarters of the way from the top. The tonfa can be used both offensively as a club and defensively, by holding it against the forearm to deflect a sword blow. Some styles of KUNG-FU have adopted the tonfa, and it is often used now by the police as a billy club.
